Success At Last!

So today I took on new technology, from as simple as creating a login for Picasa to post a slideshow of photos to this blog and finally succeeding my post to Tribal Shout. I would not have been able to do all this without a little help from some of my old friends and some of my new class friends.

So Imaging Sharing is right up my alley. I work with almost 20,000 photos yearly, both school related and personal. I have used lots of image based programs but I am beginning to see advantages of the Picasa type one. If for no other reason but it ease of use, I will be incorporating it into my life. I see advantages of storage, slideshows, embedding the images from multiple sources, etc. Personally, I want to share the images I already have more easily with family members who as far away.

Now the DELICIOUS part of the day! I think social bookmarking has tremendous potential on all levels. I see it as a time saver by placing it on my igoogle account since I will be able to access it anywhere. Also, it is so easy to use and organize. The tabbing system is so useful to both time saving and organization. I am ready to "teach" my educator husband how to use it as well as some of my colleagues. I see the potential for school departments sharing there bookmarking with each other by allowing access to one another listings.

With each of these programs, delicious.com and image sharing through Picasa (or other ones like it), I do like the option to make them all or partly private or public. At least I have some control.

Thanks to my classmates and Paul for allowing time for the discussion about liability regarding photo use. You had enlightening thoughts because as you could tell I have really struggled about this since I deal how I am able to safely use thousands of photos of students and adults as I moderate the school yearbook. I just want to be careful follow proper guidelines regarding privacy and copyrights.

In the midst of successes and failures, this class has been a wonderful learning experience!
